Sunday Scribblings: Miscellaneous

This morning I woke up to a snowstorm. The snowflakes fell heavily on the trees and ground. By mid-morning the snow had settled to a few flakes.

Because our balcony is covered, the birds (finches, warblers, and starlings) find seeds. They also find shelter from the snow.

My husband gives me a running commentary of all the birds that are showing their wings and butts to the glass sliding doors. The birds chirp and fight for the best seeds and the best spots.

As for miscellaneous, it is a good word for my world. Between the medication (azathioprine, prednisone, prevacid, furosimide, and vitamins like E, C, B, and D) and the isolation, then add in some wash, writing, and cleaning, I live miscellaneously. Spit it out. I really like to shorten the word to misc. So much cleaner.

Even my writing has a miscellaneous feel. My articles have a personal feel. Even my fiction and poetry are mostly about me. I dream in color.

My brain can wander from idea to idea until I drop in fatigue. Sometimes, I read my favorite books so that I can calm down. I need variety in my life. I need isolation. Isolation has won for now because it keeps me healthy.

I feel like Alice in Wonderland when she meets the Red Queen.

amazing post. I had never heard of Wegener's Granulomatosis, but you caused me to do some research. Thanks for educating me. I wish you all the best.

Myrtle...

I am always happy to hear that others are learning about this disease. If caught in time, the patient can live a basically good life. Or if not caught, they can die.

I thoroughly enjoyed your post and all the misc. that makes up your life. I especially connected to the pharmacology -- took prednisone myself for a year (many years ago) for a blood disorder. I'm glad you have proper meds for the Wegener's -- wishing you blessings and health.

Thanks Sherry,

I have been on prednisone for almost 5 years now. It is a wonder/scary drug. :-)

Thanks for reading my post.

Like the first comment I was unaware of this disease and I'm intrigued to find out more.

That aside, I really enjoyed your piece.

Keith,

Thanks for coming by. :-) WG is a rare disease (or at least rarely diagnosed). We try to get the word out about it.

Glad you like the piece.

I'm always pleased to read your posts - laughing at the birds showing their parts through the slider. Prednisone - I took some once and it literally knocked me into an 8-day coma from which I accidentally recovered. You are so right - it's a wonder/scary drug. Glad you can tolerate it!

Tumblewords,

Thanks for coming by. Yes, I have been on prednisone for about 5 years now. I do OK on 5 mg. When I am above 40 mg, I have paranoia and other mental issues. But, I am grateful that it has kept me alive.

Oh yes, and the birds are especially amusing (warblers, too).

Your brain wandering from idea to idea probably encourages the artist in you. I love waking up and wondering what new thoughts and passions I will come up with today.

Thank you. I do have a lot of ideas. I knew that I was really ill when my ideas dried up. (Medication and WG can affect the brain.) Thankfully, I don't have any lesions.

I thank my lucky stars every day that I am still living.
