Development of morbidity and mortality in ANCA-associated vasculitis

The outcome of ANCA (antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody)-associated vasculitis (AAV) has been significantly improved due to the combined use of cyclophosphamide (CYC) and glucocorticosteroids. Recent studies demonstrated a normalization of life expectancy for several subgroups of AAV patients.

The rest of the abstract is here.

What I say: As it says in this abstract, CYC and prednisone have stabilized patients; however, infection and cancer due to CYC use has caused problems for WG patients. There is a limit that the body can take when taking CYC.

Just something to keep in mind when you are taking meds.
